It all started with a Diamondback Apex that was saved from the
skip of death. After 6 months of riding and racing on it I was sold
on the idea, and started hunting out my favourite frame for my "proper"
singlespeed. Kona UK came to the rescue with a Kilaeua from their
Warranty returns pile. The frame had a snapped dropout but was otherwise
mint, not a problem for me, so a quick trip to Chris Marshalls in
Keighley and two weeks later she came back, chopped, de cable guided,
a stop put on for v-brakes and horizontal dropouts. Matt black paintjob
in with the price.
What started as a cheap SS bike has slowly evolved, Chris King
rear hub, Mavic ceramic rims, Easton Monkeylites, Middleburn Uno
crankset, SDG BelAir.
After three years of hard service, racing, winter riding and derbying,
she's just about to get a new paintjob. Mattblack with gloss black
flames. Photo's to follow.
Would I swap? Only for a Ti Spot ;o)
